We were engaged in 2010 to upgrade the vessel according to “SOLAS 2010” upgrading rules for existing vessels (R41, 42) and to achieve compliance with Stockholm Agreement for Hs = 2.5m for a major passenger operator in the Adriatic Sea (Greece – Italy). The result was a total refit of the accommodation spaces including new larger saloon areas with a new one-more comfortable and ergonomic shape, new duty free shop and reception area, new passenger and crew cabins, new officers saloon and new escape routes from machinery spaces. During the previous conversion in 1998 our engagement was to transform a Japanese vessel into a two compartment vessel according SOLAS ’74 regulations and Hellenic Flag specific regulations. The most significant parts of that conversion were the new staircase at the aft part with new fixed stairways and electrical escalators, new vehicle ramp leading from main to upper garage, new life saving equipment added on board.
